What we are looking for
You love designing user interfaces and are passionate about solving complex problems using well-developed code. You have extensive expertise in developing front-end applications plus the necessary back-end knowledge to apply your work to the system. You like good design and pay attention to details. You love to be part of a dynamic group of team-players, but can also work autonomously.
You will be taking part in developing the interface for our products, particularly our leading product, 1findr, a search engine that can be used not only to find relevant scientific papers, but also to analyze and visualize search results in an innovative manner. The application is written with React-Reduce and interacts with our API RESTful and back-end services in Python. You will be creating components in React, writing CSS style sheets and implementing integration tests to support what you develop. You will actively participate in designing and creating prototypes for new functions. You may even want to join our house ping pong team during breaks!
- BA in software development or similar degree
- 3 years’ experience in software development
- Front-end development
- Style languages (CSS, SASS or LESS) and responsive/mobile-first integration
- Communication and drafting of documentation
- Autonomous and resourceful
- Interest in UI/UX design
- Knowledge of Python
- Experience with Django
- Interest in scientific and academic research
- Experience working for a start-up or small company
