Montreal, June 1, 2017-1science extends warm congratulations to Dr. Ziyun Xu, who has recently been granted an Extraordinary PhD Award from the Council of the Universitat Rovira i Virgili (URV) in Tarragona, Spain. Dr. Xu received his PhD from URV in 2015. He was supervised during his doctoral studies by Science-Metrix and 1science CEO Dr. Éric Archambault, as he included a bibliometrics component in his Translation and Intercultural Studies dissertation.
URV’s Extraordinary PhD Awards are granted in recognition of doctoral theses of the highest quality. Dr. Xu was the only 2017 recipient of this Award from the URV Department of Humanities. A paper co-authored by Dr. Xu and Dr. Archambault can be accessed here.
About Dr. Xu
Dr. Ziyun Xu obtained a BA in English Language and Literature at the Shanghai International Studies University, an MA in Conference Interpreting at the Monterey Institute of International Studies, and a PhD cum laude in Translation and Intercultural Studies at the Universitat Rovira i Virgili (Spain).
Dr. Xu serves as an expert reviewer for Perspectives: Studies in Translatology, one of the premier journals in the field. He is a certified court interpreter for New York’s United Court System, and has provided extensive interpreting services for both Berkeley Law School and premier American law firms such as K&L Gates and Finnegan. He has worked for high-profile figures in the spheres of politics, business and academia, including three Nobel Prize laureates, US Secretaries of State, Bill Gates, and Tim Cook; he has also worked for leading international conferences and other prestigious bodies, including the White House, the US Congress, and Harvard, Stanford, Berkeley and Cornell Business Schools. He is currently Assistant Professor of Chinese Interpreting and Translation Studies at Wake Forest University.
